Stochelo Rosenberg - Lead Guitar Workshop
From his early days picking up Django's solos by ear and practicing restlessly - the gipsy method - to his accomplishment as a legendary guitarist, blending the Master's work with latin influences, an ear for all things Jazz and his unique touch and vibrato, Stochelo Rosenberg became the incarnation of the gipsy jazz guitarist. Through this workshop, Stochelo will demonstrate and explain picking, improvisation, left / right hand techniques and more, according to participant's wishes.

Tim Kliphuis - Jazz Violin Improvisation Workshop
In his workshop, Tim Kliphuis takes apart the famous Stéphane Grappelli Jazz Violin sound. He works on the 4 Ts: Technique, Tone, Timing and Taste. Every student gets personal tuition on how to practice, how to play accents and slides, how to solo over chords, use licks and build up a phrase.
Workshop participants enter a free prize draw and have a chance of winning a copy of Tim's Mel Bay "Stéphane Grappelli Gypsy Jazz Violin" book.
Tim Kliphuis is an acclaimed tutor with a range of international students and was featured in Fiddler Magazine. Recently, HyperHip Media have released Tim's "Hot Jazz Violin" DVDs with six hours of on-screen tuition.

Gonzalo Bergara - The Gypsy Swing Workshop
My main interest is to show you how to teach yourself to play this stuff, share all the advice that has helped me tremendously through all this time. There are two main subjects I'd like to cover, technique and knowledge.
During the technique section we'll talk about both right hand and left hand. We all know how important the right hand is for this style so we have to get that right. The left hand we'll cover fingering, ways to connect all together, vibrato, timing and whatever else we can think of.
The knowledge section is about getting really familiar with the notes on your guitar. You need to know the neck of the guitar better than you know your name. How to practice!!! There are many many tips on how to practice more efficiently. I also want to talk about swing!! Django was always swinging.
Finally we'll cover melodies, how to be more musical, to understand TENSION AND RELEASE and to start making music in a guitar solo.

Doug Martin - The Gypsy Waltz
In this workshop we’ll study the art of the waltz. In the first part of the workshop we will explore the role of the rhythm guitar in waltz and discuss such areas as traditional versus modern feel when playing in 3/4, chord voicings, chordal line clichés and bass note/chord accompaniment.
In the second part of the workshop we will learn and analyze (as much as time permits) a waltz melody, discuss and dissect various patterns, lines and arpeggios which can be taken directly from waltz melody and be used as devices to incorporate into your improvisation.
Participants will be able to collectively choose which waltz we use from a number of waltz transcriptions prepared ahead of time and supplied by me for the class content. We will use the selected transcription as a vehicle to study both the rhythm and melody portions of the class. Example selections may include La Gitane, Valse à Dora, Rêves d’Automne (Valse à Tchavolo), Notes Noires, Valse à Rosenthal, Valse de Wasso, and others.
