Sammo Miltich
Sammo Miltich is dedicated to preserving and performing the music of the late, great Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. Though Sammo and his father Matthew had been performing since Sammo first learned to play the guitar at age thirteen, the Clearwater Hot Club was formally put together in the summer of 2003. The following November their first disc was released under a self titled Sammo: The Clearwater Hot Club. After extensive gigging and touring throughout the midwest and the United States, the group released a second CD in 2004 entitled May Rain.
As Sammo (lead guitarist) and his father, Matthew (bassist) lead the group they are joined by other fine musicians. Mark Kreitzer and Paul Miltich play rhythm guitar in the group. The Clearwater Hot Club is in a sense truly a club with an array of different members playing lead instrument beside Sam's guitar playing. At DjangoFest Northwest, they will be joined by the immensely talented Olivier Manchon, from New York City. Olivier, also plays with the Hot Club of New York, and the Hot Club of San Francisco.
Sammo is no stranger to the gypsy jazz scene. He is a member of the Hot Club of San Francisco, and performed on their latest CD, Postcards From Gypsyland. He has also performed with the Robin Nolan Trio and with Brian Torff in such far away places as Holland, Germany, and New York's Lincoln Center. He has had the great privilege of having played and performed with other gypsy jazz greats such as Angelo DeBarre, Dorado and Samson Schmitt, Ludovic Beier, Fapy Lafertin and others.
