Adrien Moignard > > > www.myspace.com/adrienmoignard

With the exciting growth of Gypsy Jazz worldwide, inevitably there come the great new players. A hot brewing spot for this development has been and always will be Paris, France. In the direct bulls-eye center of this energy vortex sits the young Adrien Moignard.

This year, Moignard will play on stage at least twice -- first going head-to-head with Argentinean master guitarist Gonzalo Bergara during the Saturday matinee, and then hitting the Djangofest stage again as part of Sunday night’s Grappelli Jelly All-Star Djam.

Moignard is self-taught on the guitar and began playing at age 12. After exploring blues & rock, he discovers Django Reinhardt's music and American jazz. He is now one of the most sought after guitarist in the modern Gypsy Jazz and swing scene.

He is a member of two highly regarded Parisian bands: the Zaiti Ensemble and Selmer #607. Both bands consist of some of the top Parisian and French players in the Manouche or Gypsy Jazz genre today.

This will be Moignard’s fifth and sixth times performing at Djangofest, having played Djangofest Northwest and San Francisco/Mill Valley three times with the band Zaiti Ensemble and hosting the Sunday night Parisian Djam at Djangofest NW 2009.
