Tim Kliphuis > > > www.timkliphuis.nl

Dutchman Tim Kliphuis is one of the top jazz fiddlers in the world, and has been dubbed Stéphane Grappelli's successor. After his long-standing collaboration with gypsy guitar legend Fapy Lafertin, he worked with Angelo Debarre, Stochelo Rosenberg and many others in the Gypsy Jazz scene.

A soloist in his own right since 2004, Tim now has a reputation which transcends the one genre. His trademark mix of Jazz, Classical, Folk and World music has taken him to a range of venues in different countries: Edinburgh and North Sea Jazz, Richard Strauss Festival, Folkworks Festival and Baltimore Fiddle Fair, Concertgebouw Amsterdam. He has worked with accordeonist Richard Galliano, Irish fiddler Frankie Gavin and many others.

Tim Kliphuis has 7 CDs to his name and can be found on various Gypsy Jazz recordings, including the recently released "Tribute to Grappelli" with the Rosenberg Trio. His recordings as a band leader have received highest praise on both sides of the Atlantic and have been played on radio stations on both sides of the Atlantic.

An acclaimed tutor in Grappelli's Jazz Violin style, Tim has a growing range of internationally performing students. His best-selling Mel Bay book "Stéphane Grappelli Gypsy Jazz Violin" is the definitive tuition book on Grappelli’s style and he was featured several times in Fiddler Magazine and The Strad. Tim is a member of ESTA, the European String Teachers Association, where he teaches improvisation to classical players, and teacher of Jazz Violin at Tilburg Conservatoire in Holland.
