Andreas Öberg - Gypsy Fire

In Gypsy Fire, the most recent Djangobooks publication, Andreas Öberg in collaboration with Michael Horowitz has produced a terrific new resource for aspiring Gypsy Jazz guitarists. Gypsy Fire is a collection of melodic patterns and arpeggios that are typical of both contemporary GJ players and those who inspired them.
In his clinic, Andreas Öberg will go over selections from this material as well as introducing new material that was not included in the book.  Andreas will approach the material in such a way that newcomers to the style will get a good introduction but at the same time  participants that have been working with this type of material for awhile and are looking to take their playing to the next level will acquire some helpful tools and devices for GJ improvisation.

Kevin Nolan - Rhythm Workshops

Workshop #1:  Beginning Rhythm

I see too many people playing bad rhythm be it at gigs or in a jam session. This is mainly due to a lack of good practical instruction and the right kind of structured practice. This workshop is designed to teach you the best possible way to approach playing rhythm guitar in the Gypsy style. It will cover basic practice techniques with a view to setting you up to be a great rhythm player.

Workshop #2: Advanced / Latin

Many people ask me for advice for furthering their playing in both the swing and Latin styles, so this is the workshop for you. I will address many of the bad habits that people have fallen into with a view to advancing all students. I will concentrate on all aspects of what's required to be a great rhythm guitarist. I will also break down all of the Latin rhythms and leave the students on the right track towards playing great.

Workshop #3: Rhythm Techniques

In this workshop i will break down and explain most of the various practical techniques that are used by good rhythm players. Right and left hand technique, Pick control, Playing fast (Swing and Latin), Dynamic control and much more. If you want to be in the know then this is the workshop for you.

Jason Anick - Learn from the Masters

Ever wonder how the great gypsy jazz violinists like Didier Lockwood, Florin Nicolescu, and Stephane Grappelli get their unique “sound” ? For this workshop I will compare the various stylistic, rhythmic, and harmonic aspects that give these respected players their unique sound. I will teach a part of each player’s solo over the classic tune “Minor Swing” as well as show some classic licks that will be great additions to your own “musical toolbox”. Finally, I will discuss ways on how you can start to develop your own unique sound. This workshop is open for violinists of all levels.
