The internationally-acclaimed Gonzalo Bergara Quartet is an act not to be missed. Heavily influenced by Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, traditional jazz, and hints of music from his native Buenos Aires, Gonzalo´s tightly knit quartet provides a captivating evening of sizzling musical virtuosity.
Gonzalo began playing professionally at age 16 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. By 17 he was fronting his own blues trio on national television. He arrived in the United States in 2000 and within a short time performed and recorded with hundreds of artist including Tim Hausser of Manhattan Transfer, Sylvie Vartan, Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, John Jorgenson, Howard Alden and many more.
He toured the world extensively with the John Jorgenson Quintet, and then created his own quartet. The quartet´s first CD Portena Soledad was an Editor´s Pick by Guitar Player Magazine and Vintage Guitar Magazine called it a masterpiece. Los Angeles Magazine selected the quartet as the Best Jazz Group in Los Angeles in their Best of LA issue.
Both with and without his quartet, Gonzalo has performed worldwide with shows in Croatia, Italy, France, Germany Hungary, Argentina, Brazil, England, Scotland, Canada and the United States. Top concerts include performances at the Montreal Jazz Festival, Playboy Jazz Festival, Sweet and Hot Jazz Festival, and countless Django Reinhardt festivals throughout the world.
